In honor of the upcoming Juneteenth holiday, I would like to highlight some important history surrounding the occasion.

This is Ben Haith, Mr. Haith is responsible for creating the Juneteenth Flag in 1997. Three years later Haith would collaborate with artist Lisa Jeanne Graf to apply the finishing touches. “Boston Ben” is also a social worker, community activist, and Founder of the National Juneteenth Celebration Foundation.

According to the Juneteenth Celebration Foundation. The arc represents fresh opportunities and promising futures. The star represents the original Juneteenth celebration that took place in Galveston, Texas. The burst represents a new star or new beginning for all.

The Pan-African flag created by Marcus Garvey is also closely related to the holiday.
